You should have been given the lockbox code separately.
There is one key and it lives in the lockbox. Please open the door, then put the key straight back so everyone in your group can get in.
How everything works
Tap any heading for the details. If something isn’t working, please contact us rather than wrestling with it.
Please don’t be noisy in the garden or hot tub after midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, or after 10:30pm on weekdays.
The cinema room, dining room and games room are good places for late-night chats.
The hot tub is cleaned and treated before and after every visit. It is left cooler between stays, so allow an hour or two for it to warm up.
Testing strips, de-foamer and a small water vacuum are available. Never put the vacuum’s charging connection in the water unless it is fully sealed.
The wall buttons raise and lower the projector screen. The small black Amazon Fire TV remote should control both the Fire TV and projector; its blue button turns them on.
Please leave all remotes in the cinema room. The large sofa can also be used as an extra bed.
There are Alexa speakers downstairs connected to our Spotify account. We won’t judge your music if you don’t judge ours.
Simply say 'Alexa play pop music' or Alexa play 'specific song / artist', and that should play on all the speakers. If it doesn't. say Alexa play music everywhere'. If you don't want it to play everywhere, simply unplug or move the device you don't want (please plug it back in).
The dining room has a smart TV suitable for video calls and presentations. Please leave its remote in the room.
The house has gas central heating, assisted by solar thermal panels. The Nest thermostat is the small circular display in the ground-floor hallway.
Each room has a thermostatic radiator and an electric fan heater. Please contact us before touching the commercial boiler.
To lock the garden door, lift the handle while turning the key. Please lock doors and close windows when leaving valuables in the house.
The garden lights normally come on around sunset and switch off at 10pm. Their power supply is in the larger garden shed, but you should not normally need to access it.
The silver kitchen bin is for general waste. Please put rubbish inside the two bin liners rather than directly into the bin.
Large bags are provided for glass and paper. If anything becomes full or smelly, the outside bins are at the front of the house, to the right.
Collection is on Monday. If you leave Sunday evening or Monday morning, putting the bins out would be very helpful, but it is not required.
Accidents happen. Please tell us about breakages or stains so we know what needs fixing or replacing.
Please don’t jump on the beds, and be especially careful with red wine near the white bedding. Stain removers are in the laundry room.
Wine glasses have surprisingly short lives here. If there is a full-scale wine-glass massacre, we would appreciate replacements.
Indoor and outdoor towels are provided. To save energy, we appreciate guests bringing their own when convenient.
We provide an initial supply of toilet paper, kitchen roll and cleaning products. Please don’t take our towels home.
The washing machine adds detergent and conditioner automatically. We recommend TurboWash with the spin set to 1400.
Feeding a crowd
The machine is mainly for making large pots of filter coffee. Labels on the machine will guide you. The reusable filter can be rinsed or put in the dishwasher; no paper filter is needed.
The espresso function is best used by people familiar with this type of machine. You will need to bring your preferred espresso coffee.
If the cooker hasn’t been used recently, the gas can take a while to reach it. Please persevere. The built-in spark works, and lighters are also kept nearby.
The gas ovens light using the control knobs.
The left knob selects the type of heat and the right knob controls temperature. The oven tends to run cool, so check the independent thermometer inside. As a general guide, add about 20°C.
For simple heating, repeatedly press the small diamond button to add 30 seconds.
The large air fryer is excellent for cooking for a group.
There are two dishwashers. Please use plastic glasses outdoors and around the hot tub.
